Last weekend, an old friend threw a 1940's-themed birthday party complete with record player, dancing, cocktails and old Hollywood glamour. The rule was if you didn't come dressed for the decade, you didn't eat. And I
certainly wasn't going to let that happen to me. So I did what any normal girl would do. I went to the thrift store. A treasure hunt it was -- and a fun one at that. We scored two dresses, a blazer, men's dress pants, a tie and a three-piece suit for under $20. I'm still reeling from the excitement of it all. ;)
For the record, I thought about writing this post by stringing together common
1940's phrases, but no, that just wouldn't do. There's only so much I can explain using words like "applesauce" or "giggle water" or "hotsy totsy." ;) So without further ado, here are some photos from the night:

Why yes, the eye candy in the suit IS my husband. |

Sisters. =) |

The makeshift photobooth was quite possibly the most awesome part of the party. All you need is a small blocked-off space and the PhotoBooth iPhone app. |

My beautiful friend Sarah and I -- modeling our very 1940's thrift store dresses. =) |

After dancing the night away (ok, it was just one song ;) |

Mustaches. Enough said. |
What's the best/most fun/most unique party you've ever been to? Tell me all about it!
A 1940s party sounds so fun!!! I love themed parties. The best I have been to is probably a 60s party.
